Gegenüber der ersten Auflage ist die zweite überarbeitet und wesentlich erweitert. Systemeigenschaften wie die Steuerbarkeit, die Flachheit und die Passivität wurden hinzugenommen. Neben der flachheitsbasierten und der passivitätsbasierten Regelung sind nun auch die exakte Linearisierung im MIMO-Fall und die exakte Zustandslinearisierung Teil des Buches. Entsprechend den hinzugekommenen Systemeigenschaften wurde der Titel von "Nichtlineare Regelungen" in "Nichtlineare Systeme und Regelungen" geändert.
Das Buch richtet sich sowohl an Studierende der Elektrotechnik, Informationstechnik und des Maschinenbaus als auch an Ingenieure in der Industrie.
